Christchurch
The Red House Museum and Gardens of Christchurch was originally built as a workhouse in 1764. The Georgian building has a variety of displays and objects with a local theme. There is a fashion display from the early 20th Century up to the start of World War II. And there is an exhibition of how children worked the house making watch parks and the harsh reality of life of the times. There is a arts and crafts furniture display and you can discover the people, place and time in archaeology galleries. The museum is surrounded by well tended garden where you discover historic roses and a herbaceous border.
The Museum of Electricity was established in 1981, and hosts one of the most impressive collections of historic electrical equipment in Great Britain. The building itself dates from 1903 and used to be the town's power station. It has been carefully restored and provides the perfect setting for over 700 exhibits.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth is rich with attractions and activities to do for the active and for the more relaxed individuals. The Pavilion Theatre and Ballroom is Bournemouth's venue for year round entertainment. Built in the 1920s, it retains its original and elegant styling and is Bournemouth's regular home for West End stage shows, Opera, Ballet, Pantomime, Comedy and concerts.
